THE 4TH ANNUAL
LUCKY POINT AND ARABELLA EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP TRUST GOLF DAY
Arabella Golf Club, South Africa, 2024
Lucky Point in Botrivier – approximately 100km from Cape Town, South Africa – strive to create better opportunities for children by teaching them to care for their living environment, providing a safe area to play and learn in and, of course, teaching a good work ethic.
The Lucky Point Foundation is the product of Margrit Schwendimann’s initiative.
In 2008 she commenced the project by introducing the Recycling and Point Shop to an area in the Western Cape called Botrivier – approximately a 100 kilometers from Cape Town – close to the town of Hermanus. Her local partners, Elizabeth Jacobs and Claudia Delport, demonstrated the same desire to help the local children and their families.
“My motivation for setting up Lucky Point grew from the desire to provide the disadvantaged children in this beautiful area greater opportunities.” Margrit says: “I chose Botrivier as the location because living close by I was familiar with some of the local people and their challenges.”
Her heart lies in South Africa and its children, whose reaction to the generosity of our friends in Switzerland encouraged her. Thanks to the support of these many friends, our project grew extensively to where it is today. Without their generosity, we would not have been able to provide a healthier, safer well-being to the many children and their families who work tirelessly on our Recycling project.
In 2011 our first After School Care opened its door followed two years later by a second After School Care.
In 2014 we opened and registered our Crèche as an NPO (non profit Organisation).
In 2018 we commenced construction of a Youth Centre and Recycling Station, which opened in February 2019.
